At another successful SciFri event held Jan 29, Del Mar Heights students and parents learned all about our largest organ— the skin. At “Love the Skin You’re In,” Dr. Angelo Del Re from Coast Pediatrics of Carmel Valley taught about the anatomy of the skin, how to care for it, things to watch for and how to protect it from the sun. The thoughtful presentation also included several hands-on experiments. Students explored the extent to which items such as sunglasses, water, t-shirt fabric, sunscreen and glass react to ultraviolet light. It was a memorable night for all involved.
