Canyon Crest Academy debate team scores multiple wins

Members the Canyon Crest Academy debate team recently won multiple awards at the San Diego/Imperial Valley Speech League Competition Division 3B held at Rancho Bernardo High School. The group competed in three divisions: Policy, Congressional and Lincoln-Douglas.

The group has been traveling locally, state and countrywide since September winning many trophies and medals in multiple divisions. Various members have already qualified for the Tournament of Champions to be held at the University of Kentucky in late April. Select members will be participating in the State Championship Qualification Tournament to be held over three consecutive weekends commencing Feb. 23 to March 9. The debate team will also be competing at the University of California Berkeley and California State University Long Beach later this year. — By Gloria Goldstein
