San Diego Jewish Academy preschool educator named Teacher of Year

Beth Polek

San Diego Jewish Academy preschool teacher Beth Polek was named Teacher of the Year by the San Diego Association for the Education of Young Children.

On May 7, the association gathered in San Marcos to honor their Teacher of the Year. SDJA preschool teacher Beth Polek accepted the honor.

“Three weeks ago I received a voice mail telling me that I won,” said Polek. “I was stunned!”

The AEYC is a professional membership organization committed to promoting optimal life experiences for all children from birth to 8 years. Their goal is to raise awareness of how children develop and learn, to collaborate with other organizations and institutions that share their mission, and to advocate for and support early childhood professionals and others who care for children and their families.

“I’ve been in education for over 30 years and I’ve been a member of AEYC for 18 of those,” said Polek. “I’m honored — and humbled — to be recognized by the association. But I’m not alone. I am surrounded daily by an incredible staff of teachers here at SDJA who support me and each other for the best learning environment for children.”

The San Diego Association for the Education of Young Children was founded in 1964 and is a chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children — the world’s largest organization working on behalf of young children.
