The owners of the Del Mar Plaza have plans to reinvest in the center by bringing in new tenants, a property manager confirmed Sept. 24.
Peaches En Regalia, which opened at the Plaza in 1989, will close Sept. 30 to allow owner Patricia Straight to retire. On Sept. 22, the Del Mar Art Center Gallery announced it was given a 30-day notice to vacate the premises, which was purchased by Brixton Capital in 2017.
Nikki Velasco, property manager of Del Mar Plaza, said the company could not elaborate on why the art center was asked to leave.
“Peaches en Regalia and the art center have both been longtime tenants,” she said. “We appreciate their commitment over the years. Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose the nature of their tenancy. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”
Velasco said when Brixton Capital purchased the Plaza, they saw the need for different types of retail offerings. Plans call for new additions, including a fitness center and a bridal shop with a local designer. The center also opened up as a venue for private events and weddings earlier this year.
