Date changed to March 25 for Carmel Valley 5K
The date for the 6th Annual Pardee Homes Carmel Valley 5K and Fun Run has been moved back two weeks, from March 11 to Sunday, March 25.
According to race director Katie Wilsey, they received notice from the city of San Diego and the police department that they would not be able to provide enough officers to secure the course on the planned date. Without traffic controllers, Wilsey said they could not run the event so the date was changed to ensure the safety of all participants.
The 5K course is a loop on fast and flat Carmel Valley Road while the Fun Run is a non-competitive 1K race for participants ages 3-6. All race registrants receive a goody bag, a performance tee, finishers medal and can enjoy a fun community post-race party in the Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch with expo booths, live music, food, jumpies and more.
During the registration process, participants can select where they want their proceeds to go, selecting from the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation, Carmel Valley Middle School, Pacific Trails Middle School, Torrey Pines High School and Canyon Crest Academy Foundations, Solana Beach Schools Foundation or San Diego Jewish Academy.
