Woman hit, killed by train in Del Mar

A woman was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Del Mar on Sunday morning, April 8.

The incident happened on the tracks at 15th Street and Coast Boulevard about 10 a.m., said sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Eikermann.

The Amtrak train was traveling north around 48 mph when the woman walked past the intersection’s signal guards and was hit.

She died before she could be taken to the hospital, Eikermann said. She was not identified.
