A 29-year-old man who exposed himself to a mother jogging with her 2-year-old toddler last year in Carmel Valley pleaded guilty Tuesday, July 17, to indecent exposure and will be required to register as a sex offender, city officials said.
Jaysonron Anuran Muncal admitted to masturbating in his car on June 5, after pulling next to a jogger and asking her for directions as she pushed her child in a stroller, Chief Deputy City Attorney Mike Giorgino said.
The mother was able to snap a photo of Muncal’s SUV and reported the incident to San Diego police, Giorgino said. She also posted a photo of the SUV and details about what happened to Nextdoor.com, a neighborhood-focused social media site.
The next day, Muncal drove up to another woman who was walking in the same neighborhood and asked for directions, but the woman recognized the SUV from social media and immediately called police, Giorgino said. Officers quickly located Muncal and detained him for questioning.
Muncal, who’s set to be sentenced on the misdemeanor charge in September, will be required to register as a sex offender as part of his plea, Giorgino said. He’ll also be placed on probation for three years, and ordered to complete sex-offender counseling and to stay away from the victims.
“Sex crimes terrorize our neighborhoods,” City Attorney Mara Elliott said in a statement. “Registration as a sex offender gives warning to the community that this person is a sexual predator who could re-offend.”
