Solana Beach council allots community grants
Thirteen organizations that serve Solana Beach in various ways will each receive a share from $45,000 in community grants for the year starting July 1.
Solana Beach City Council members voted 4-0 on Wednesday, June 27, with Lesa Heebner absent, to allocate the grants.
They range from a minimum of $1,600 earmarked for the Solana Beach Soccer Club to a maximum of $5,000 for the following: the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Casa de Amistad, the Community Resource Center, North Coast Repertory Theatre, and Reality Changers.
Other groups receiving grants are the American Association of University Women, $2,000; Assistance League of Rancho San Dieguito, $3,000; North County Immigration & Citizenship Center, $2,000; San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy, $2,500; Solana Beach Civic and Historical Society, $2,900; Solana Beach Disconnect Collective — Plug, $2,000; and the St. James and St. Leo Medical Program, $4,000.
Funding for the grants comes from city revenue; EDCO, the city’s solid-waste hauler and recycler; and Santa Fe Christian Schools.
