Teen pedestrian seriously hurt in Carmel Valley crash
A 15-year-old girl was seriously hurt when she was hit by a car while crossing a Carmel Valley street Wednesday evening, Dec. 27, police said.
The teen was headed west across Del Mar Heights Road about 5:30 p.m. when she was struck by a 2000 Toyota Avalon headed south on Hartfield Avenue, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.
Although the girl was in a crosswalk at the time, she was walking against the red “do not walk” light, the officer said.
She was taken to a hospital with several fractures. Her injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.
The 68-year-old driver stopped after the crash. Drugs and alcohol weren’t suspected factors in the crash.
