The bodies of a man and woman were found in a home in the Torrey Highlands neighborhood Saturday night, Aug. 17, after police were called to check on them, authorities said.
The couple, both in their 50s, were found in a home on Via Rivera near Via Santillana, after San Diego police received a call about 10 p.m., asking officers to conduct a welfare check.
The couple, whose names have not been released, was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day. When they didn’t arrive, family members became concerned and called police, the department said in a news release.
When the officers arrived at the home, they knocked on the door and then tried to called the residents by phone. Neither attempt was successful.
The officers then looked through a window at the rear of the home and saw the body of a person lying on a living room floor. They forced their way inside and found two bodies, both of which had trauma to the upper body.
No one else was inside the home, police said. Based on the initial investigation, the residence did not appear to have been disturbed.
San Diego police homicide detectives are investigating.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the homicide unit at (619) 531- 2293 or Crime Stoppers at (619) 580-8477.
