RSF Association Board Biz: New Year and New Names
We are already one week and counting into 2016. The RSF Association board had its first meeting of the year last week, and, once again, it was a meaty meeting. Jerry Yahr, chair of the Design Subcommittee for the Covenant Club Planning Committee, presented the “final” design on behalf of the architects working on the project. Although there will most likely be further small modifications to the design before it goes before the Covenant members for a vote, Jerry presented the near-final detailed iteration. Jerry made his presentation to a packed house, with the audience divided about evenly between enthusiastic supporters of and skeptical opponents to the Covenant Club. For his work in coordinating the desires of members with the professional opinions of the architects and engineers, Jerry received several rounds of applause.
(If you missed the presentation, you may find it on our website at www.rsfassociation.org. The presentation is the first item on the member home page, which you access by logging in to the private side of the website. If you need assistance with your user name or password, please call the Association office at 858-756-1174 or email RSFA@RSFAssociation.org.)
Representing the Technology Infrastructure Committee, Philip Wilkinson introduced the reports on high-speed internet and on enhanced cell coverage. Both projects are very close to having signed contracts.
The board also announced new committee members. Tim Parillo has been named to a three-year term to the Covenant Design Review Committee (CDRC). Tyler Seltzer will serve on the Trails and Recreation Committee. Thanks so much to these two for volunteering! The Osuna Committee is still in need of a volunteer. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Kirk at email@example.com.
As we do every January, the board established the 2016 Nominating Committee, whose job it is to find members who are interested in running for the RSF board later in the spring. This year there will be three seats opening for three-year terms. Several members have already expressed interest, making the job of the committee much easier! If you would like to throw your name into the hat, please contact Daria at firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know. We have until mid-March to finalize the list.
Speaking of names, we have lots of new staff whose names did not appear on the roster in January of 2015. Arriving at various times during the past year, they are already making important contributions to the efficient running of our service-oriented Association. In addition to Manager Bill Overton, we welcome Don, Liza, Christy, Matthew, Shawn, Gia, Dina and Brooke. They join the team of long-time staffers, including Arnold, Robert, Matt, Kirk, Daria, Jill, Nancy and Angie. As way of introduction, you can see staff names, positions, photos and brief bios on our website under the Association heading under the Personnel section. An organization chart is also available in this section.
One important name that you should save on your “favorites” is the Rancho Santa Fe Village VIBE. Last Saturday we enjoyed the first VIBE gathering in the Village for 2016. The Secret Car Club, our Saturday morning “anchor tenant,” had a good crowd and the music in the park attracted a variety of active members. Musician Joshua Randle enthralled his audience. Several budding young visual artists perfected their projects with crayons and ribbons. Although it was probably too chilly for our talented local plein air painters to set up their easels, we hope to see them (and you know who you are!) out at our next VIBE gathering from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23. Follow VIBE news at www.facebook.com/RSFvillagevibe or check our calendar on the website.
I’m always interested in hearing what is on your mind. Ann.email@example.com
Here’s to a great 2016!
