History has been made! The Notre Dame Academy girls varsity basketball team took 1st place - again. As winners of the 2018 Academy of Our Lady of Peace High School Pilot Invitational Tournament, the Notre Dame Academy varsity girls team is the only team to win back-to-back championships in the Pilot Invitational history.

The NDA team was seeded 2nd overall in the tournament and beat tough competition to get the win. The ladies defeated St. Joseph and Our Lady of Grace in pool play, then overcame Nazareth for the win in the quarterfinals. Next, the team toppled St. Vincent De Paul in the semifinals, and finally conquered St. John’s to clinch the championship title. Students Julia Cariquitan, Makenna Diltz and Alex Morland Tellez were named to the all-tournament team.

Julia Cariquitan was also named the tournament MVP. Congratulations to the players and coaches, Jeff Nolen, Kit Cariquitan and Coach K. And the future continues to look bright for this NDA team as only three of the players will be leaving this year as they graduate.
