Optimist Club Del Mar-Solana Beach to host award-winning journalist and filmmaker Elsa Sevilla

The Optimist Club Del Mar - Solana Beach will host guest speaker Elsa Sevilla, three-time Emmy nominated, multi-award winning journalist and filmmaker, who will present "San Diego Historic Places: Local History” on Wednesday, May 16, at the monthly dinner meeting held at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club in Solana Beach. Social time begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:15 p.m.

Sevilla began her journalism career at KGTV-10 in 1990, where she spent 17 years as an assistant assignment editor, writer, producer and reporter. After five years at KGTV-10, Sevilla started her own business, Sevilla Productions, LLC and also became a freelance reporter for KGTV-10 and translator and field producer for ABC- Evening News, Good Morning America and KPBS-TV.

Sevilla has contributed to KPBS-TV as a freelance journalist and host since 1998 and later as a filmmaker, starting her documentary series: Historic Places, since 2008. She and her husband and business partner, Guillermo Sevilla, are celebrating 10 years of filmmaking for KPBS-TV.
