Flames displace eight at rural Fallbrook home

Eight people were displaced Monday afternoon when a fire broke out for unknown reasons at a rural North County home, authorities said.

The blaze was reported about 1:25 p.m. at a home on Ladera Vista Road in rural southern Fallbrook, North County Fire Protection District spokesman Capt. John Choi said.

The flames apparently erupted in a furnished back patio area of the home and spread to the kitchen, Choi said. Fire crews made an aggressive attack and had the flames controlled just before 2:10 p.m.

The home was reportedly unoccupied when the fire broke out, and no residents or firefighters were injured, Choi said. The cause of the blaze was under investigation late Monday afternoon, and investigators did not immediately have an estimate on the cost of the damages.
