A gunman robbed a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant at the east end of Lemon Grove Wednesday afternoon and escaped in a Cadillac, a sheriff’s official said..
No shots were fired and no one was injured at the eatery at Broadway and Kempf Street about 2 p.m., sheriff’s Lt. Karla Menzies said.
Authorities said the thief jumped over the counter, pointed a black pistol at customers and employees and demanded cash. He took money from the cash register and left.
One or more witnesses saw him leave in a cream-colored, older-model Cadillac with tinted windows, headed north on Lemon Grove Avenue.
The robber, a black man about 6 feet 2 inches tall and of medium to heavy build, had his face covered with a black and white bandanna. He was dressed in a gray hoodie, white sweat pants and black gloves.
