Smash-and-grab robbers hit Mission Valley jewelry store

San Diego police were searching around Mission Valley for a pair of armed robbers who smashed display cases and stole valuables from a jewelry store Wednesday night.

Employees at Jared Galleria of Jewelry on Camino de la Reina reported that the two had handguns and used crowbars to break open the glass cases about 7:15 p.m.

The store is located at the west end of the Target parking lot at Westfield Mission Valley shopping mall.

Police were told the robbers appeared to be black men in their 20s, wearing dark clothes and bandannas or some other type of mask over part of their faces. They ran north from the store.

A police helicopter helped officers search for the thieves. Various witnesses reported seeing two men running in different areas in the mall’s vicinity.

No details were immediately available on the type of items stolen from the store.
