Power out to 1,900 in Scripps Ranch area

Power outages left about 1,900 utility customers in the dark in the Scripps Ranch area, with additional outages in North County on a rainy Wednesday evening.

The first outages hit Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa and Sorrento Mesa for 167 customersabout 4:15 p.m., according to the San Diego Gas & Electric Co. website.

More customers went dark over the next hour, when the website showed power going out to about 1,800 more customers at 5:10 p.m. The estimated time for repairs at that point was 8 p.m.

The website also listed about 175 customers out of power around Oceanside shortly after 5 p.m., with full repairs not expected until 6 a.m. Thursday.

In Poway, almost 500 homes and businesses were without electricity shortly after 2 p.m., but most power was restored before 7 p.m.

And in Chula Vista, about 200 customers were in the dark a little after 8 p.m., with repairs expected by 11 p.m.
