26 students win awards

Twenty-six students at Santa Fe Christian have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams. The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both, for successful performance on the AP Exams.

Recent graduate Keaton Hoffman qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5-point scale on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. Hoffman is currently a freshman at Georgetown University.

Six students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams; seven qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award, earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of the exams; and 12 students qualified for the AP Scholar Award.

Local student among ’39 Clues’ winners

Eric H., a 12-year-old student from Solana Beach, won the second prize in the Book 4 sweepstakes for “The 39 Clues” multi-media book contest. More than 660,000 children have registered at www.the39clues.com to play games revolving around the series and earn points.

He was one of 66 children worldwide who won cash prizes. Eric won a $250 cash prize.
