Santa Fe Christian Girls Varsity Basketball team organizes school-wide outreach to help local families
Santa Fe Christian Girls Varsity Basketball teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito to help make this a special holiday for families in Solana Beach. The SFC girls organized a school-wide outreach by collecting food items, donations from supportive students and parents, and then purchased and sorted groceries for families in the community. Matt Hannan, principal at SFC, and the school ASB (Associated Student Body) also donated proceeds from several school events, to help with this worthy project. A special “thank you” to the Solana Beach Vons for their support.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito serves the community by providing after-school programs for kids and teens. Wendy Ark, a representative from the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, reached out to several schools in the community and all immediately agreed to help. Earl Warren Middle School held a clothing drive and Carmel Valley Middle School, Sage Canyon and Ocean Air collected toys. The goal was to surprise families who could use support during the holidays. The outpouring of donations were incredible, all thanks to the generosity of the community. Families were amazed when they arrived at the Solana Beach Harper location and were given wrapped gifts, clothing and holiday groceries. The smiles proved that this important group effort was a success.
It’s heartwarming to work together to take care of community members and show what the spirit of the holidays is truly about.
