‘Bluegrass & Beyond’ resounds at Powerhouse

The Cultural Arts Committee of the Del Mar Foundation had bluegrass lovers tapping their toes and swaying in their seats with Laurie Lewis and The Right Hands on May 16 at The Powerhouse.

Lewis, a stirring vocalist, gifted songwriter, champion fiddler and top-notch bandleader, has won a Grammy and twice been named Female Vocalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

With nearly 20 solo, duo and band albums to her credit, Lewis has just released “Blossoms” (Spruce and Maple Music), a collection of originals and covers that explores new territory while remaining true to her Americana roots. Joining her for this “Bluegrass & Beyond” performance was Tom Rozum (mandolin), Chad Manning (fiddle), Patrick Sauber (banjo) and bassist Andrew Conklin.
