Candlelight Ball benefits Scripps Memorial Hospital

For the sixth year, philanthropist and newspaper heiress Betty Knight Scripps served as general chairwoman of the Candlelight Ball. Throughout the years, the event has raised more than $13 million to support lifesaving care at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. This year, the 79th annual ball - one of the oldest philanthropic events in San Diego - took place at a new venue, the elegantly-decorated Grand Del Mar. It was also honored by the appearance of Academy Award-winning actor and La Jolla native Cliff Robertson.
