Canyon Crest Academy students to appear in ‘Hairspray’

hairsprayACT San Diego’s version of the Tony award winning musical “Hairspray” will feature several of San Diego’s most talented up-and-coming young performers Oct. 29 - Nov. 7 at The Lyceum Theatre.

ACT- San Diego’s production comes to life through a promising local cast of rising young stars. Propelled by a Tony award-winning score from Marc Shaiman and librettist Scott Wittman, this high energy production will get you dreaming, dancing and you’ll feel on top of the world. Two different casts will perform this musical.

The cast includes Marisa Acosta, 9th grader at CCA, who recently created and starred in a web reality show that followed her through the rehearsal and production process of 13, the Musical.

Torrey Mercer, a senior at CCA, is a National Youth Theatre award winner, sang the National Anthem at a Charger Game last year and is currently in Spelling Bee at CC and is a Del Mar Idol winner.

Hunter Schwartz, 10th Grader at CCA, is a National Youth Theatre award winner for best actor as Bat Boy at CCA, and has been in 29 youth theatre productions.

Brianna Herber, 10th grader at CCA, currently in Spelling Bee; Rachel Baum, 11th grader at CCA; and Taylor Wuthrich, CCA, currently in Spelling Bee, and National Youth Theatre Award nominee.

The Lyceum Theatre is located at 79 Horton Plaza, San Diego, CA.
