Firefighters put out brush fire in Carmel Valley

It took ground and helicopter crews about a half-hour June 30 to quell a fire that scorched about an acre on a brushy hillside in Carmel Valley.

The blaze, which posed no structural threats, broke out for unknown reasons about 11:30 a.m. off the 13100 block of Caminito Mendiola, near State Route 56, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, SDFRD spokesman Lee

Swanson said.
