Carmel Valley Girl Scouts complete Cyber Savvy workshop
Members of Troop 1256 of Carmel Valley were among the 90 local middle school girls who recently completed Girl Scouts San Diego’s first Cyber Savvy workshop. Bobbie Stempfley, director of the Department of Homeland Security’s National Cyber Security Division, and Mayor Jerry Sanders were presenters. The local Girl Scout council collaborated on the event with the National Cyber Security Alliance and ESET, a local company that develops software to protect against computer security threats.
Girl Scout members and non-members in grades 6-8 are invited to attend the next workshop in the series. Media and Me will explore aspects of social media, including cyber bullying.
