New tenants announced for The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch in Carmel Valley

Continuing to add to its diverse roster of offerings, The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch will soon be home to locally-owned Urban Girl, skate shop Overload, Total Vision Care, and Pacific Highlands Dentistry/My Kid’s Dentist and Orthodontics.

Urban Girl at Pacific Highlands Ranch will carry a collection of fun gifts, accessories, footwear, clothing, swimwear and home decorations when it opens this May. Pacific Highlands Ranch residents and owners Annie and Chris Glenn currently have locations at Seaport Village and in Del Mar, but the husband and wife team are excited to open their third store in the area they call home.

“Living in the area, we know what people want, and we also love to support local companies,” said Glenn. “We know The Village will be an exceptional center and Urban Girl is honored to be a part of this beautiful new development in the community.”

The store’s design will have an inviting and warm modern cottage feel with white brick walls and wood accents. The assortment of personal, home and clothing goods is being tailored to local residents of all ages. Some popular lines to be featured include Toms, Billabong, L Space Swimwear, Voluspa Candles, Maui Jim, San Diego Hat Co. and Urban Girl’s own accessory label, as well as a variety of goods from local suppliers and businesses. Urban Girl will be open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. To see more of the exciting items coming to Carmel Valley, visit the store’s website at

Also coming this spring to The Village is Overload. Locally-owned, Overload carries a wide variety of skateboard apparel and accessories geared toward teens and adults from popular brands such as Vans, Nike, Converse, Ray Ban and Overload’s own label. The store has earned its popularity in San Diego by carrying limited edition, one-of-a-kind footwear, particularly an exclusive Nike Jordan collection. The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch location will be the second Overload store for owner Aaron Churder, whose first location opened in North Park in 2000. “There really isn’t anything similar to what we offer at Overload in the Carmel Valley area,” said Churder. “We are looking forwarding to bringing the community exclusive, limited edition items that are currently not available nearby.”

Two medical groups, Pacific Highlands Dentistry/My Kid’s Dentist and Orthodontics and Total Vision Care, will neighbor the boutiques. The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch will be Total Vision Care’s third location in San Diego. The husband and wife team of Dr. Kim Plattner and Dr. Steve Klein will provide a full range of services and products including eye exams, a large collection of fashion frames and sunglasses, customized eyeglass lenses and contact lenses, specialized testing and treatment for dry eyes, allergies, glaucoma and other medical eye conditions along with co-management of LASIK and cataract surgery. Dr. Klein is a national speaker on advancements in eye care, frequently traveling the country to speak about the newest technology and treatments in vision care. The residents of Carmel Valley and Del Mar can look forward to the latest in eye care when Total Vision Care opens at The Village this summer. The clinic will provide convenient hours Monday through Saturday.

Pacific Highlands Dentistry/My Kid’s Dentist and Orthodontics, scheduled to open in June, will provide comprehensive care - General Dentistry, Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry - all under one roof. The office will be equipped with advanced technology including digital X-rays and CEREC® dentistry. With the use of CEREC® CAD/CAM dentistry, patients can enjoy the convenience of same-day dentistry, saving the patient wait time and minimizing delay in treatment. Patients will be able to enjoy these specialized services while receiving high-quality patient care. With a strong commitment to a core set of values that guides the practice, the dental office will bring a team of top dentists and specialists to The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch.
