Chamber View: San Diego Coastal Chamber broadens efforts
BY NANCY WASCO
As the San Diego Coastal Chamber of Commerce is continuing to represent area businesses, the chamber is taking a proactive approach to offering more opportunities for members to network together and grow their business.
To better represent the area that the chamber covers, we changed our name to the San Diego Coastal Chamber of Commerce in Fall 2008. The SDCCC serves businesses from La Jolla, UTC, Sorrento Valley, Torrey Hills, Carmel Valley, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe.
The SDCCC offers three regular monthly networking events each month. Our next event is our monthly luncheon on May 21 - the third Thursday -from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Paradise Grill. We sponsor it with the Del Mar Kiwanis club.
Both the sundowners and referral breakfasts are free to attend if you are a SDCCC member; the luncheons are $20 for members, $35 for nonmembers. For information regarding all of our events, visit
Our chamber has partnered with local community and civic organizations for 2009. We are working with area Rotary Clubs, the Del Mar Kiwanis, Fresh Start Surgical Gifts and The Friends of Del Mar Parks to support their fundraising events and help with their community projects.
In July, the chamber will hold its second annual Lobster Festival to benefit Friends of the Del Mar Parks and Fresh Start.
Our chamber has grown to more than 300 members and is adding new members each week. We will continue to look for ways to support our communities and to provide the services they want. If you would like to find out more about membership or attending chamber events, visit
