Children’s chorus to hold auditions
The San Diego North Coast Singers Youth Chorus is auditioning new singers for the 2010-11 season beginning at noon June 12 at the San Dieguito United Methodist Church, 170 Calle Magdalena.
The choruses serve 120 boys and girls in grades 2-12 in four ensembles: Giocoso (beginners) welcomes any interested young singer - no experience is necessary; Brioso (intermediate), Caprice (advanced treble) and Capella (high school mixed choir) are selected by audition.
The advanced choir has performed at festivals throughout Southern California and made performance tours to New York City, Denver, Italy, Austria and the Czech Republic. The group has performed with the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus at UCSD and with the San Diego Symphony in Copley Symphony Hall. Weekly rehearsals are held September-May.
No preparation is needed prior to an audition. Acceptance in the upper level choirs is based upon intonation and tuning; ability to read music and hold a part; tone, vocal technique and range; attendance and working effectively at rehearsals; and dedication, attitude and contributions to the group.
