Credit union offers new service

San Diego County Credit Union, with a branch in Solana Beach, recently introduced ZashPay, a payment service that allows customers to send and receive money electronically using a mobile phone number or e-mail address. ZashPay is offered to financial institutions in the U.S. by Fiserv Inc., a provider of information management and electronic commerce systems for the financial services industry.

Instead of writing a check or going to the ATM, ZashPay is a way to send money from an SDCCU checking account directly to someone’s account at either SDCCU or another financial institution, using only their name and e-mail address or mobile phone number. The recipient will receive an e-mail or text message with details on how to claim their money, and funds will be deposited in the recipient’s account in as soon as one business day.
