Danon concedes County Supervisor race to Roberts
San Diego County Board of Supervisors candidate (District Three) Steve Danon today (Nov. 15) issued a statement conceding the supervisors race to candidate Dave Roberts.
“As votes continue to be tallied, it is clear that the people have made their decision, and so today I have congratulated Dave Roberts for being elected the next San Diego County Supervisor.
“This has been a long and spirited campaign during which the people of San Diego benefited from an open debate on issues of true importance to our region. I’m honored to have been part of a process that took me from city to city, and from door to door, listening to the concerns of San Diego County residents. To those who donated their time, passion, hard-earned dollars, or ideas, and to those who voted— whether for me or for my opponent — I am sincerely grateful.
“I have always felt a need to give back to the region I love, whether it’s coaching local Little League baseball teams, serving on the boards of San Diego organizations, supporting non-profits, or spending a weekend cleaning up the beaches where I live, and so I assure you that I plan to continue to serve in some capacity moving forward.
“That includes offering assistance to Supervisor-Elect Roberts in any way that I am able. I wish the best to the man who was formerly my opponent, and I ask all San Diego County residents to join me in supporting the incoming supervisor so that our region remains one where families can thrive, businesses can flourish, and government keeps its place as a small but transparent supporter of our quality, of life.”
The San Diego County Registrar of voters is still counting absentee and provisional mail ballots for the Nov. 6 election. Election results are expected to be certified by early December. Roberts is currently leading the race by a vote of 50.81 percent. Danon has received 49.19 percent of the vote to date.
