Del Mar Foundation grant applications due Oct. 1

Do you have a great idea for a project in Del Mar? Is your organization looking for funding to get a great idea implemented? The Del Mar Foundation is accessible to all 501 (C) (3) nonprofits who might be in need of funds for a worthwhile project to benefit the community.

The next application deadline is Oct. 1 and both the application and guidelines may be downloaded from www.delmarfoundation.org.

During the last grant cycle funds were approved for the Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) to purchase ham radio antennae, to Del Mar Community Connections for a computer hot spot lab, and to the Del Mar Lifeguard Association for the purchase and installation of bike racks and for Junior Lifeguard scholarships for the summer of 2011.

In addition, the Del Mar Foundation has announced a Challenge Grant to match, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 in new donations made to the Foundation to fund construction of the new 17th Street Beach Safety Center.

The mission of the Del Mar Foundation is to promote civic pride and cohesiveness, acquire and preserve open space, improve beaches and parklands, raise and grant funds, and sponsor diverse cultural programs and community events in Del Mar.
