Mayor, Del Mar

The City of Del Mar recently launched a redesigned city Web site in an effort to provide the public easier access to a wide variety of useful information. The new design showcases the natural beauty of the city and was designed by Sharepoint360, a firm based in San Diego.

The new site includes several new features including the City Meeting and Events calendar, RSS feeds for the News and Mayors Message archives, and new “e-services” such as a Public Map Viewer and online crime reporting.

The Public Map Viewer is a Web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) with multiple map layers, including the recently defined Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). The design includes five “Quick Links” at the top of every page for easy access to Forms, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Meeting Agendas, Municipal Code, and Useful Links.

As you browse, you will see that the new site is organized into four color-coded sections--Residents, Businesses, Government and Visitors.

Whether you have lived in Del Mar for two months or for generations, the Residents section will provide you with a wealth of information about city utilities, volunteer opportunities, community support organizations, recreation, emergency preparedness planning, design review information and pending administrative applications.

For those of you already doing business in Del Mar or considering starting a new business, the Business section will provide you with information about business licenses, bid information, new development and construction and building services.

The “Applications and Guides to Processes” page in the Business section features a comprehensive list of downloadable applications and guides.

The Visitors section has been expanded to include more information about “Things to Do” in Del Mar, including links to information on parking, facility rentals, local beaches and parks. And, if you were kind enough to submit your favorite photo of Del Mar during our photo submission promotion back in August, you may find that one of your photos appears on the new site.

Thanks to everyone who participated and special thanks to the Del Mar Historical Society, which provided several beautiful historical photos of Del Mar.

We hope that you enjoy exploring our revamped Web site. Your feedback and suggestions are welcomed.
