Del Mar vendor robbed on fairgrounds property

Sunday afternoon, Oct. 24, around 4 p.m. a vendor at the Harvest Festival on the Del Mar Fairgrounds was robbed of $700. Susan Horvitz, who also lives in Del Mar, said she left her jewelry booth for a few minutes so she could use the bathroom.

“When I came back, I realized my bag with all the cash in it was gone and I started screaming ‘My money’s gone, my money’s gone,” she said. “All the vendors were shocked. Nobody saw anything.”

She notified event security, though she said there wasn’t much they could do after the fact. Horvitz said she heard reports that another vendor was robbed at the Harvest Festival in Long Beach recently.

“I don’t know what kind of person steals at a craft show, but apparently it’s happening. I hope that security will be a little better next year because I’d hate for this to happen again to someone else. It’s very upsetting.”
