DM Hills students celebrate recycling
Students at Del Mar Hills Academy got a visit from Surfrider Foundation volunteer educator Ellen Fox on May 26.
Fox spoke to third- through sixth-grade students about their responsibility to protect our oceans and beaches.
She challenged each student to reduce plastic use by reusing containers and showed them a short video about picking up three pieces of trash every time they visit the beach.
The Hills’ Recycling Club has raised more than $500 this year from their recycling redemption program. The club donated $200 to the Surfrider Foundation.
The club plans to give every incoming kindergartner an eco-friendly reusable 10-ounce stainless steel drinking container with the rest of the money they raised.
