DMUSD’s creative workshop wraps up
The popular Del Mar Union School District summer program, the Children’s Creative Workshop, just wrapped up its monthlong run at Torrey Hills School. Every classroom was filled with something fun as 570 students participated in activities such as sign language, clay creation, movie making, fencing, and sewing and quilting.
In Broadway Bound class, students sang and danced the musical “Mary Poppins,” while outside, the Amazing Race class competed for “Bales Bucks,” named for the instructor Jeff Bales, the fourth-grade teacher at Ocean Air.
In Kritter Kapers, incoming kindergartners learned their ABCs through music, movement and art. One of their favorite songs to sing, “Tootie Ta,” had the children hilariously dancing with their elbows in, thumbs out, feet apart and knees together.
