Engagement Announcement: Christine Elizabeth Keays and Chaco Ramsey Clotfelter to wed

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Keays of San Diego are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Christine Elizabeth Keays, to Chaco Ramsey Clotfelter, son of Mr. Thomas R. Clotfelter of Rancho Santa Fe and Mrs. Leith Jackson of Escondido.

Christine and Chaco met in Solana Beach the summer before last. Christine, attended and swam for USD as an undergrad, then graduated from medical school in New York City.

Chaco attended undergraduate school at UCLA, served as a Marine Officer for four years and is currently completing an MBA in marketing with a thesis project involving market research on residential real estate trends. Christine is in her third year of residency and chief resident at UCSD’s Hillcrest Family Medicine group. Chaco is a real estate broker with Willis Allen Real Estate.

For the surprise engagement, Chaco planned a Sunday filled with unassuming fun: a morning surf, lunch with friends and then, while on a mountain bike ride along Lake Hodges, Chaco proposed under a canopy of live oak and mistletoe next to a gurgling spring beneath Bernardo Mountain. The day was rounded off with a fireside dinner at the Inn, Mariachi music at the symphony and then a surprise party with friends, cake and champagne at Extraordinary Desserts downtown.

Christine and Chaco plan to wed next fall.
