Falcons miss out on CIF finals, lose to Vista 20-17

Torrey Pines’ amazing football season came to an end on Thursday night as they lost in the semi-finals to Vista, 20-17. The game was tied 17-17 deep into the fourth quarter — with three minutes left in the game the Panthers kicked a 23-yard winning field goal.

The loss marked the end of a great season, where the Falcons went 10-2, undefeated until the last game of their regular season. Multiple players received All Palomar League honors including offensive first team: senior quarterback John Cabot, Scott Mainquist, Daniel Murray and offensive player of the year running back John Wilson who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown in the semi-final game.

Players Kevin Cuff, Hunter Shigley and Harry Wilburn were named to first team defense, with senior linebacker Cuff named the division player of the year.
