Gas leak fixed at Del Mar Highlands Town Center

A construction crew accidentally ruptured a natural-gas line at a Carmel Valley shopping mall Aug. 2, forcing the evacuation of three commercial buildings for about 90 minutes.

The non-injury mishap at Del Mar Highlands Town Center, located in the 12900 block of El Camino Real, was reported shortly after 9:30 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Utility crews had the leak under control by shortly after 11 a.m., said Gina Jacobs, a spokeswoman for San Diego Gas & Electric.
