Gas prices continue to rise

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Friday for the 46th consecutive day, but the increase of two-tenths of a cent was the smallest since May 26.

The average price of $3.047 is 7.6 cents more than a week ago and 41.6 cents more than last month, but $1.583 less than the record high of $4.63, one year ago today.

The average price is at its highest since Oct. 27, when it was $3.09, according to figures provided by the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

“It’s harder to find many gas stations with prices under $3 in Southern California now, but as of today there were still some in several cities including Chula Vista,’' Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California said.

“It’s usually not worth it to drive out of your way to save a few cents on gas, particularly right now when there’s little difference in prices among the stations.’'
