Gas prices drop in County

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell today for the first time since March 23, declining four-tenths of a cent to $2.36.

The average price had risen 20.4 cents during an 18-day streak of increases that ended Saturday when the price was unchanged for the first of two consecutive days, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Prices customarily rise in the early spring, in part because of the required switch to the summer blend of gasoline, which is more expensive to produce.
