Good morning

I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to introduce myself.

I’m Kathy Day, the new executive editor of the Del Mar Times, Carmel Valley Leader, Solana Beach Sun and Rancho Santa Fe Record. My goal is to make the Times’ print and our new online edition your top sources for news about your community. We’re a weekly newspaper, but as we know the future our industry is in the midst of changes that mean that we need to be more.

Our Web site www.delmartimes.net has a new look and continues to grow. We’re posting news as it breaks and are looking for you to tip us off when you know something’s happening. You can call us or use the e-mail link “Talk Back” (which you’ll find in the pulldown menus) as soon as you know of a news event.

The story on Page A3 gives you a lot more details about what you’ll find on the site.

Bookmark it or, better yet, make it your homepage!

As I get settled, I’ll be out and about, looking for people who want to share their ideas about what your newspaper means to you. I hope you’ll be looking for me too and inviting me to speak to your organization about the paper and how to get your news in the Times.

What do you want to read about? What issues are important to Del Mar’s future? Want more entertainment information? More school news? More business news?

Let me know. I can’t promise the world, but I can listen to your ideas and implement the ones that work.

My e- mail address and phone number are listed below. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can - and that’s not blowing smoke. I value the opinions of our readers and want to know what you think.

That said; I invite you to send us your letters to editor Jim Kerr too, at
