Alex Jaksha, who graduated last week from Cathedral Catholic High School as co-salutatorian, has been an active member of her school’s community for the four years she has attended.

She spent her high school career honing her talents in a variety of areas, compiling experiences and leaving a mark on her school that will certainly influence her future.

“In a school like Cathedral where the football team is the state champions and everyone knows the school for its gorgeous campus, I feel like it is my responsibility to give face to a school with such a weighty reputation,” Alex said.

As president of the Future Physicians Club, Alex organized an event to donate hair to cancer patients in March. Due to her involvement in this project, Alex was selected a Cathedral’s March Citizen of the Month.

She also served as the general-secretary for the Model United Nations Club at her school.

As a lifetime member of California Scholarship Federation, Alex said she enjoys helping the community. A National Honor Society tutor, she was also an active member of the school’s Anime and Environmental clubs.

Since her sophomore year, Alex has played on the girls varsity lacrosse team and coaches a middle school lacrosse team. She also played for Cathedral on the varsity field hockey team in 2007.

This fall, Alex put her artistic ability to work as the lead designer for Cathedral Catholic’s drama production. She also designed shirts and sweatshirts for the Intramural Sports Champions, the Rugby Club and the Guitar Club.

Her artistic ability was recognized when she won third place in the San Diego County Art Education Association’s Youth Art Month competition.

Alex said she hopes to become an oncologist. In the meantime, she plans to continue playing lacrosse and will participate in the college-level Model United Nations.
