High school students form club to help feed pantry clients

High school students from the Hand Up Club at Cathedral Catholic High School are coordinating a communitywide food drive to collect food for the thousands of low-income clients served by Hand Up Youth Food Pantry. Students will collect nonperishable food and hygiene items at CCHS from Nov. 2 through 6.

This is the first time CCHS and Jewish Family Service of San Diego have combined efforts in a food drive to help people in San Diego by collecting items on the school’s campus.

Hand Up Youth Food Pantry provides supplemental food and hygiene items to military families, the homeless, older adults, low-income families and children in 12 locations throughout the county. In 2008, Hand Up Youth Food Pantry provided more than 100,000 pounds of food to individuals and families in need.
