The 85-minute film will premiere in “Pure Digital” cinema and highlights the Chargers’ franchise, from their early days in the fledgling American Football League to the current teams, reliving the games, top players and classic moments that helped create the “Legend of the Lightning Bolt.”
“This film is a ‘can’t miss’ for true Chargers fans,” said Chargers Executive Vice President A.G. Spanos. “Chargers fans will get a chance to relive the team’s greatest plays, greatest players and greatest moments that helped build the San Diego Chargers into one of the NFL’s most successful franchises. Nobody documents the sheer drama and excitement of the NFL better than NFL Films. It’s going to be a memorable night and a great way to kick off our season.”

NFL Films Senior Producer David Plaut spent part of his childhood in San Diego and was a Chargers fan, and even worked briefly for the team in the 1970s.

“Being a fan first, then being able to work for the organization, and then being able to work at NFL Films and on this project, I can honestly say that I enjoyed reliving every moment while putting the film together,” said Plaut. “San Diego Charger fans will really enjoy this film as it takes them through the history of the franchise and how it got to where it is today.”

The DVD release date is Sept. 15.
