Hot air balloon lands in Carmel Valley freeway center divider

Police are investigating what caused a hot air balloon to land Friday night, June 28, in the center divider of the State Route 56 freeway.
According to authorities, the balloon lost altitude at about 8:30 p.m.
The balloon deflated after landing, according to witnesses on the scene.
There were no injuries.
SR 56 runs east-west for 9.2 miles from Interstate 5 in Carmel Valley to Interstate 15. The eastern end of the highway is also the western end of the Ted Williams Parkway.
