Interactive map shows first person view of LEGOLAND® California

First U.S. Theme Park Mapped On Google Street View

LEGOLAND® California becomes the first U.S. theme park on Google Street View – an interactive feature of Google Maps allowing you to experience a location as if you were walking through it.

“It is absolutely thrilling for LEGOLAND California to be part of this amazing new technology,” said Peter Ronchetti, General Manager of the family theme park in Carlsbad, California. “Street View gives the viewer a vantage point that has never been available without actually being in the Park. I have no doubt this will be a valuable tool for families planning their visit.”

The Google Street View team toured LEGOLAND California in May 2008, weaving their equipment through throngs of guests from the path that winds its way around the Park, to ride queues and even the rides themselves, mapping the park as accurately and thoroughly as possible. Parents can see areas such as the Volvo Driving School in a way they will never be able to see in the Park, since no grown-ups are allowed on the ride.

“I am delighted to see LEGOLAND California now featured in Street View,” said Daniel Ratner, Mechanical Engineer for Street View at Google. “I had the opportunity to ride our Trike through LEGOLAND California to gather the images, and hope that everyone enjoys now being able to virtually explore the park, whether to plan their own visit or to get an interactive view of the great sights such as Miniland Las Vegas and the giant pharaoh in Land of Adventure.”

Google Street View launched in May, 2007 with just five U.S. cities and has since expanded to 200 cities around the world. The launch of LEGOLAND California in Street View is part of an effort by Google to bring Street View to tourist attractions and destinations around the world.

LEGOLAND California celebrates its 10th birthday this year and features nearly 60 rides, shows and attractions geared specifically for families with children ages 2 to 12. To “test drive” LEGOLAND California’s Street View, visit
