It’s a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
With the Thanksgiving holiday came five days without school for local Carmel Valley children. To help out harried parents and keep children entertained, the Del Mar Union School District held its annual Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Camp.
For two days last week, 140 children from all eight district schools converged on Torrey Hills School for turkey-infused games and craft-making, such as drumstick hats made out of paper bags.
As a special treat Monday, 30 children took on the staff in a massive tug-of-war battle. If the children won, staff member Kevin Ratliff said he would chop off his long hair.
Sure enough, Ratliff’s head was soon buzzed over chants of “Cut that hair!” The resulting ponytails of hair were donated to Locks of Love.
