Komen walkers start on Nov. 21

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day fundraising walk begins at the Del Mar Fairgrounds the morning of Nov. 21. Festivities start at 6:30 a.m. with the walkers taking off at 7.

Walkers will traverse Torrey Pines hill, passing through La Jolla Shores and La Jolla’s downtown Village in the afternoon. Two days and 60 miles later they’ll celebrate the end of their trek at Petco Park in downtown San Diego.

Susan G. Komen, for whom the international fundraiser is named, spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling the disease throughout her unsuccessful treatment. Moved by Susan’s compassion and commitment, her sister. Nancy G. Brinker, promised to do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors, activists and victims.
