‘Laps for Adam’ swim meet raises funds for brain cancer research
The second annual “Laps for Adam” philanthropic swim meet was held at the Pacific Athletic Club on Oct. 9. Adam Balch was a lifeguard at the PAC, who at a very young age, lost his life to brain cancer. Three teams, the Santaluz Club, the Tritons from Poway and the home team, the Pacific Athletic Club, competed. The event was also open to Masters and all swimmers outside of the clubs. The meet included fun relays, such as the T-shirt relays, noodle relays and family relays. Coaches Erin Sorensen from the Pacific Athletic Club, Beth Saunders from the Santaluz Club,and Michael Galindo from the Poway Tritons all cheered on the swimmers who helped to make the event a success.
This event helped to raise money for brain cancer research through the “Art of the Brain” organization (
