Lions Club to partner with Blind Stokers Club
Blind Stokers Club members Dave Walker and Peter Dawson recently met with Del Sol Lions Club President Dave Roberts, past International Director Bill Crawford and past District Gov. Julie Crawford to announce that the Lions would be partnering with the Blind Stokers Club on its upcoming Aug. 1 Cycling for Sight bike ride from La Jolla to Irvine and back.
The Blind Stokers Club was formed in 2007 to introduce and share the simple pleasures of recreational bicycling with those who cannot see well enough to pilot a bike. The club operates by forming teams and conducting rides. Teams are composed of three parts: stoker (the rear cyclist on a tandem bicycle, also the “power-maker”), captain and tandem bike. On Aug. 1, the Del Sol Lions will photograph teams as they complete the third day of the 200-mile (three-day) ride and host a refreshment stand.
