Meet local artists, authors at Arts In Bloom event
More than 40 artists, authors and musicians will take part in Arts In Bloom, a family-friendly day of free activities and demonstrations presented by the Solana Beach Art Association. The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. May 17 at the Flower Hill Promenade.
From painters to photographers, cartoonists to authors, visitors can meet local artists and learn about their creative processes while enjoying Flower Hill’s merchants and restaurants.
Children can help Solana Beach artist Christie Beniston break tiles and create a mosaic mural inspired by the children’s book “The Tiny Seed.”
The Book Works will host three interactive author panels, including “Gardening for the Southern California Climate” with Nan Sterman; “Swimming With the Big Fish” with local fiction authors Lisa Fugard, Jincy Willet and Laurel Corona; and “Cooking With All Things Trader Joe’s” by Deana Gunn.
Enjoy musical performances by harpist Amy Lynn Kanner and classical guitar ensemble Villa Musica and dance performances by Brazilian and Indian dance groups and students from Canyon Crest Academy.
Food, wine and cheese tastings and free drawings for luxury gift baskets will be held throughout the day.
